Freddie Stroma is a British actor and model. He portrays Oliver in Grand Hotel.
Stroma was born in London, England, to a Swedish computer industry executive father, and German mother. He grew up in Ascot, England in Berkshire, about 25 miles west of London. He was educated at the public boys-only boarding school Radley College in Oxfordshire, graduating in 2005. He has an older sister, Antonia, and a younger brother, Philipp.
Stroma was accepted to the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain at age 16. He had roles on various British TV shows, including Casualty and BBC's Mayo (aka The Gil Mayo Mysteries). While studying neuroscience at University College London, Stroma continued to work as an actor and model, and ended up taking a year off to star as Cormac McLaggen in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. After filming was over, Stroma completed his degree at University College London. In 2009, he attained a 2:1 BSc (an upper-second-class degree) in Neuroscience.
After graduating from college, Stroma reprised his role as Cormac McLaggen in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Parts 1 and 2. He has also appeared in other movies, 188.8.131.52, A Cinderella Story: Once Upon a Song, Pitch Perfect, Extraterrestrial and The Inbetweeners 2.
Stroma has also appeared in many television series, including Lifetime’s Unreal, HBO’s Game of Thrones as Dickon Tarly and ABC’s Time After Time.
Stroma said he modelled and acted to help pay for university. He modelled for Acne Underwear in their Underwear Collection Autumn/Winter 2008, using Stroma as his surname instead of Sjöström to avoid confusion NHL player Fredrik Sjöström.
Stroma began dating his Unreal co-star Johanna Braddy in the Summer 2015. They got engaged in May 2016, and married on December 30, 2016, in Atlanta, Georgia.
